Dear Mama Rama
Look at your daughter,
I know you can see.
Look at what happened,
Once you left me.
Your life cut short,
I suffered the wound.
No one could predict,
You gone so soon.
Alone I was,
For many years.
Those nights I cried,
So many tears.
I missed you a lot.
I was very upset.
I always felt lost,
I don’t know your steps.
You had 3 kids,
You left us behind.
I know it hurt you,
When they didn’t act kind.
Jealousy and greed,
I learned so quick.
Without saying a word,
I know what you endured.
People see my face.
They can’t look away.
I get called pretty.
A price I have to pay.
I’m so much like you.
Even to this day.
No matter what I do,
I can’t change my ways.
Women all over the world,
Can learn from your life.
You weren’t just my mother.
You were somebody’s wife.
True definition of ride or die.
Everyone knew the truth.
Still spread the lies.
In hope to disguise,
I foolishly complied.
With tears in my eyes.
I stopped accepting the lies.
Dear Mama Rama,
You are appreciated.
Even if they don’t say it.
When they see me,
They see you.
At times I don’t know,
What I should do
I could never be you
I could never fill those shoes.
But today I say thank you,
The day we were born,
Our lives transformed.
The day you gave life,
Love at first sight.
You loved being a mother,
That’s what I discovered.
The more I learn about you,
The truth is uncovered.
They remember you still.
They know about the will.
I learn from your love,
All the way up above.
Today I say,
Happy Mother’s Day
My African Queen
Rahmatoullahy Barry
Before you became Mahotiere,
Did you feel prepared?
After dropping your name,
Did you feel the same?
I wish we could talk.
I have a lot to ask.
I have a lot to say.
If I have questions,
I ask as I pray.
Today I say,
Happy Mother’s Day
When it’s my time,
I’ll love my babies too,
I’ll have some for me,
And some for you too.
My way of saying thank you,
You showed me the way.
Without being here today,
I follow my heart,
I learned from the start.
Thank you always,
For keeping me safe.
For keeping me sane.
Dear Mama Rama
I never liked when
They abused your name.
I hated it when they speak,
Your name in vain.
My life is not a game.
They made you the blame.
Dear Mama Rama,
It’s a damn shame.
I learn from your life.
Dad made you his wife.
After you were gone,
Every thing went wrong.
I don’t understand why,
They tried to act sly.
Jealousy can’t hide.
Are they mad
At what you had?
Dear Mama Rama,
There’s no one above you.
The Queen to my heart.
You gave me life.
I will give life too.
I ask that you
Be with my through
In spirit and truth
Love always your daughter,
Malon Mahotiere
Thanks for letting me share.
